What you own and what proves it, kept somewhere that outlives the house it is a record of.

What it does today

• Contents room by room, with photographs, serial numbers, what you paid and what it is worth now.
• What you paid and what it is worth now are kept as two different numbers, because a receipt answers one question and an insurer asks the other.
• Vehicles with year, make, model, VIN and plate, alongside the contents rather than in a separate app.
• Photographs and documents attached to any item, up to ten megabytes each, with thumbnails generated so a list of thirty things does not send thirty full size photographs to a phone.
• Files live outside the web root entirely and are only ever served after the account has been checked. Nothing is reachable by guessing an address.
• Donations logged with the receipt attached on the day, which is the only version of that record anybody can actually use the following March.
• A running total of what is on the list, broken down room by room, so the gaps are obvious.

Why it is built this way

Hosted is the entire point. A home inventory kept on a laptop in the kitchen burns with the kitchen, and the one moment you need it is the one moment it is gone. It is also exactly why Firearms is a separate app with a local only option: the same shape of record, the opposite requirement, and one app trying to serve both would get one of them wrong.
